We got a chance to dance on Monday, without children.. this use to happen all the time, this is how we met.. but now, blessed be, we are usually surrounded by our tribe of little ones. This moment flooded me with memories of all we have travelled together.
I don’t have any childhood friends, as a child I moved town so often. But when I went to university I met my first soul tribe. Dancers, artists, creative thinkers, hilarious outrageous people .. people I’d been waiting to meet my whole life.
At 17 years old I moved from the country to the city study dance full time. The first person I met in the change room on our first day was a gorgeous, raven haired Goddess. I was so nervous and I told her so, and she said she wasn’t at all! I learned why very soon in class… she was a totally amazing dancer and had nothing to be nervous about!
We did the things university students do, all night partying and rocking up to class at 8am for 2 hours of ballet hung over and wretched.. spent many hours on train rides to and from class, performing together, sharing each others stories of loves and broken hearts and dreams.
We finished university and travelled the world separately and together. Sharing 3 months travelling around Europe and visits to each other in London and Scotland.
We came home and danced some more, I met my partner and married, she sang at my wedding.
She taught me the ways of magic. I am forever her student.
13 years ago I had a baby and she was there, saw me birthed as a mama. Then again at my next births, watching my tribe grow. She is the Goddess Mother of my children.
She met her partner, and married, I sang at her wedding.
Then we prayed and wished and worked some big magic.. calling in her baby. We called for years.
And then he came! Sweet boy is my Goddess son.
She has come to share the Eight Seasons Journey with me, now she is my student. (technically but it really doesn’t feel like that in the Eight Seasons Journey, we are all teachers, all students).
Now we await the birth of her next babe.
This magical, blessed friendship is and has always been a beacon of love, trust and understanding in my life. What is most amazing is the transformations and evolutions we have both been through together and separately and we still find ourselves so close, so in tune and at ease with each other. 24 years of witnessing and being in each others lives.
Last night I dreamed we were Beyonce’s back up dancers!! I’m sure that means many magical dancing adventures for us to come!
We have an arrangement that when we are old we will pluck out each others chin hairs.. now thats love.
So blessed to dance through this life with you Elizabeth.
